The Alchemy Lab of Marcus De Roth is a web-based tool that approximates how alchemy works in Skyrim. You can browse through the ingredients, see its properties, add them to the mixture and see the resulting effects of the potion. The initial values described in the potion assume an Alchemy of 100 and there’s an option to apply perks/apparel bonus.

Differences from the in-game lab:

  • In the game, clicking on a property will deselect the previously selected property. In my lab, you can click up to three properties to show the ingredients having those effects (to deselect, click on the property again or click on the “Ingredients” to clear the selections). There’s also an option to match all properties to an ingredient if you’re looking for something specific to create a potion with multiple properties.
  • In the game, clicking on ingredients will automatically add it to the potion. In my lab, you have to do add the ingredient by: clicking on the menu button, using the keyboard shortcut, or double-clicking the ingredient. Although it is possible to mimic the game, I prefer looking over the ingredient’s properties first before adding it to the potion.

The lab has tested using the following MS Windows browsers:

  • Firefox 9.0.1
  • Google Chrome 16.0.912.75 m
  • Internet Explorer 9
  • Opera 11.60
  • Safari 5.1.2 (7534.52.7)

Note: The potion cost without any bonuses applied is almost accurate although certain potions can be off by ±2 septims from the actual value in the game. The cost gets even more inaccurate when the perks & alchemy gear are applied.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Character Modifier is a web-based form that will generate for you the necessary console commands to alter your character skill levels, perks and attributes using the batch command. To learn how to run a batch file in Skyrim, refer to this site.

The form can also be used to plan your character since you can only choose a limited number of perks.

When the form generates the console commands, copy the generated text and split it into to two batch files. The first file will deselect your perks and the second will do the actual modifications. Running them all in one file will result in the perks not being displayed as selected although some perks actually works.

The form has been tested using the following Windows-based browsers:

  • Firefox 9.0 – When printing, alternative font is used instead of the primary one.
  • Google Chrome 16.0.912.63 m – Handles multiple columns a bit different.
  • Internet Explorer 9 – No support for CSS multiple colums.
  • Opera 11.60 – Handles multiple columns a bit different like Google Chrome. Modifying the CSS or changing the element breaks the layout and the script. Also, Opera fails to handle the skill level slider and perk selection on the lower part of the 2nd and the whole of 3rd column.
  • Safari 5.1.2 (7534.52.7) – When printing, some fonts aren’t displayed properly.

Here are a few console commands that I’ve found useful while exploring the world of Skyrim:

  • showRaceMenu – lets you alter your character’s appearance. Depending on several factors, it may alter your stats. (refer to this page for more info) Also changing your race/sex may have unintended consequences in the game.
  • toggleMenus or tm – hides the interface. Keep in mind that after the interface disappears, you’re still in the console mode.
  • resurrect – revives fallen NPCs. Before using this command, switch to first person perspective (zoom all the way in) and after bringing up the console, click on the NPC that you want to revive. You should see a set of 8 alphanumeric numbers enclosed in parenthesis (ie: (0009A7AB) ). If the NPC isn’t revived, it is possible you’re clicking over something else.
  • prid [RefID] – selects the npc with refId. If for some reason you’re having trouble selecting the NPC, use this command first before following up with another command (ie. resurrect).
  • player.moveTo [RefID] – moves your character to the NPC with refId. Useful if you can’t find a particular NPC. I was looking for an NPC and she ended in a place where she couldn’t get out because she doesn’t have the key for the doors. In the event that you find yourself in a very weird location, using player.placeAtMe could be useful.

    It’s also possible to move a particular NPC to your location if you know the refId. Use prid to set the NPC id and then use the command moveTo player.

  • enable – must have a selected id first (use prid if necessary). I used this for Shadowmere that disappeared but using player.moveTo placed me where Shadowmere should be if he was alive and using resurrect didn’t seem to do anything.
  • player.placeAtMe [BaseID] – places an NPC near your location. Useful for missing followers (just make sure that they are really missing from their normal locations). This is different from the alphanumeric set used with the resurrect command. This command creates a new instance of the NPC so you can end up with 2 or more of the same NPC. Try to avoid using this command unless absolutely necessary.
  • player.showInventory – lists the inventory items with its corresponding baseId and quantity. Press PageUp|PageDown to scrolls through the list. Useful for the next command:
  • player.drop [baseId] [Quantity] – (Do NOT use this command to drop the Elder Scroll. Doing so may make it disappear permanently) This command is useful for quests where you are to retrieve a particular item but you already have it in your inventory and the next quest phase isn’t triggering properly. Some of the quests includes: Retrieving the Arcana Restored, the Staff of Charming from Onmund’s Request, and the instruments from the Bards’ College.

Please save first before using these commands. The commands are case insensitive. To bring up/exit the console command screen press the tilde (~) key, it’s usually located before the number 1 key.
